I would suggest resume rather than CV in North America. I'm not sure what's more usual in Europe or other English-speaking areas, but I've mentioned a CV to people here and gotten blank stares - it's just not as common as resume.

Hello!
I do concur to your words. Actually, ‘résumé’ means ‘Curriculum Vitae’ in American English, no wonder you received blank stares on mentioning ‘CV’. So, I suggest either jbb opts for ‘résumé’ instead of ‘CV’ if he is addressing someone in North America, or he writes it in full, that is, Curriculum Vitae instead of ‘CV’. A jbb: Si votre lettre est adressée à quelqu’un en Amérique, je vous conseillerais d’écrire ‘résumé’ au lieu de ‘CV’, vu qu’apparemment, ‘résumé’ est utilisé plus couramment par les Américains que ‘CV’. D’ailleurs, même dans le monde Anglophone en général, je pense qu’on utilise plus souvent ‘résumé’ au lieu de ‘CV’. Mais bien sure, libre à vous d’écrire ‘Curriculum Vitae’ si vous voulez. |
