In order to increase capacity of transportation towards north by reaching a volume of 1.5 m bbl / day Sonatrch construct a new oil pipeline Houd El Hamra in Arzew oz2 823km along with 3 pumping stations & terminals at a global cost of 600 Millions usd.

As to construction of pipelines linking Algeria and Europe a contract has been signed on 18th may 2005 between Algeria – Spanish group Consider Massa and Sonatrach to build the south section Medgaz pipeline for nearly 100 m .usd . while the section off shore side of Benisaf Almeria is separated in 4 blocks, invitations of tenders has been launched in 2005 .
At this stage 2 contracts of buy/sell of gas have been signed on December 2005 between Sonatrach and Spanish companies Cepssa & Iberdrola for a volume of 3.2 milliards m3

Concerning the project of GALSI bounding Algeria and Italy a promotional conference held on march 05 at Milan led to a signature of 12 letters of intent to buy natural gas covering the total capacity of this project . Contract will be signed on the basis of the first come the first served.

Concerning pipeline project TSGP linking Algeria and Nigeria of a length of 4500 km a feasibility study of the contract has been approved by Sonatrach NNPC and the British surveyor Penspenipa, this step will be settled during the first semester 2006.

Petroleum ports and maritime transportation of hydrocarbons

Concerning petroleum ports and maritime transportation of hydrocarbons , Sonatrach created 5 loading ports in high-sea model SPM in petroleum ports of arzew Skikda and Bejaia for an amount of 252 million usd . Managerial control of these ports granted by leasing to STH , a corporation created recently. Sonatrach holds 60 % of its registered capital.

Moreover Sonatrach buy during this period several tankers of GNL and LPG besides the agreement signed jointly with American Eagle Transport in order to purchase and run 03 tankers Model VLCC Afframax and Suez Max .
