Phrases français-anglais / anglais-français

Bonjour,
Une amie m'écrit ceci pourriez-vous me traduire ces phrases : I am really into hats (ça veut dire 'être mordu de' en français?). I think they can change an outfit from a normal one into a one with panache. I never thought that it was an English thing tho...('tho' = 'though' in emails)
When Ian couldn't use his arm I was so clumsy!! I tried really hard to look after him well but I kept knocking him or hurting him by mistake! What a terrible fiancée I am!
They are polite and friendly and study hard and can be easily bribed with sweets! (in general. There are exceptions, of course!) English students are too obsessed with being cool and mature to be bribed or work hard and they do not want to be friends with teachers!

Aujourd'hui dans ma boîte aux lettres j'ai reçu une publicité sous enveloppe au nom de Me Leguillon (mon nom de famille) m'invitant à jouer et gagner un séjour au Pays de Galles. Je vais participer si je suis tirée au sort et bien j'irai découvrir cette région. Je ne me fais aucune illusion, je n'ai pas vraiment de chance au jeu de hasard."

J’aime vraiment les chapeaux. Je pense qu’ils peuvent transformer un ensemble normal à un ensemble chic. Or, je ne pensais pas que cela pouvait être un truc Anglais…

Obviously, I just can’t afford not to think of you! Today, I found in my letterbox, an advertisement in envelope, addressed to Mrs Leguillon (my surname), inviting me to play and win a stay in Whales. I’ll participate and if I’m selected, well, I’ll go discover this region. I entertain no illusion; I’m not really good at these games of chance.

Could either NAR or marielameche (any Francophone, for that matter) explain to me how the sentence cited above translates to the following:

I didn't think that "or" in English translated to or in French. I'm also wondering why the French verb bosser was translated into the present indicative and not the infinitive, in which it appears in the original English.

I would translate the preceding sentence this way:

In my mailbox today, I received an advertisement in an envelope addressed to Mrs. Leguillon (my surname) inviting me to play for and win a stay in Wales.

Just a suggestion.

Another typos mistake you rightly spotted. Indeed, it's meant to be 'ou' in lieu of 'or'. I must confess the translation was done hastily. As for the tenses, I opted for the one I deem most appropriate in the case of informal French - remember that this is, but an informal letter.

True, tenses can be reproduced without modification. But then, pray tell, do we still fulfill the purpose of the translation? Close adherence to tense reproduction from one language to another, in my view, fails to maintain its validity if the purpose of conveying the initial text's content is being subordinated to it. Unchanged tenses, word-to-word translation, but content not the same... inane, it is.

Hoping to have shed some light.
