I am currently translating a short interview (from French into English) of a stylist to help out a friend but I'm not sure about the way I should formulate things as I am no native english speaker. Could someone tell me what sounds best? In bolt the things I'm not sure about
"I want this line to be as complete and finely-worked/polished as the other collections"... finely-worked or polished? "everything I see inspires me, antique/old household linen for instance"... old or antique? and last, but not least, could someone reread that bit and help me choose the best formulations and correct my mistakes : "The stylist, who just moved in an apartment on the left bank in Paris, received us at her place for a cosy interview. At the head of the PJ empire, Sonia A. is not at all like/far from the business woman one could imagine. Talking (with her) over a cup of Mariage Frère tea and chocolate cookies, nothing indicates that this is / we are in front of a woman who goes all over the world and juggles with her children’s education, the decoration of her numerous shops and the creation of her five lines of clothing. Contrary to our expectation, Sonia A. found time to tell us her story from her strict education to the creation of her line of clothing, establishing, as the hours went by, a real intimacy" THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP, THIS IS QUITE URGENT |

Ok let's see.... a few suggestions. Well, that is, what I would chose (not sure whether it's the best, I'm no native speaker either..!)
First, I would chose "finely polished", and "antique". Then...: "The stylist, who just moved in an apartment on the left bank in Paris, received us at her place for a cosy interview. At the head of the PJ empire, Sonia A. is far from the business woman one could imagine. Talking with her over a cup of Mariage Frère tea and chocolate cookies, nothing indicates that this is ou she's the kind of a woman who goes all over the world and juggles with her children’s education, the decoration of her numerous shops and the creation of her five lines of clothing. Contrary to our expectation, Sonia A. found time to tell us her story from her strict education to the creation of her line of clothing, establishing, as the hours went by, a real intimacy" Hope it helped you a little bit ! ![]() |
