Exclamation Please Help. English to German Translation

I hope this is the right place. please forgive me (and direct me where to go) if I'm wrong.

I would like to know what "Glory or Die" is in German.

I have searched the net and the closest i got was "herrlichkeit oder sterben" is this correct, if not what is the correct translation.

Thank you so much.
Kirby

"Glory or Die" is in German

Es gibt "Sieg oder Tod"
oder
"siegen oder sterben"

wie immer hängt es vom Kontext ab.

I think an issue with translating "Glory or Die" is that the two words belong to different word classes (parts of speech), making an elegant direct translation difficult. 'Glory' is (usually) a noun and 'die' is a verb. I would suggest working on "Glory or Death". or find an equivalent verb for "Glory" (can't think of one myself right now.) The two options henni has given you look right.

Hay,

i'm not a native German speaker but doesn't 'siegen' mean 'victory?'

PS- I think 'Herrlichkeit oder Tod' is right.

Hey guys,

"Herrlichkeit oder Tod" is not an expression in German...
An equivalent to "Glory or Die" would be "Sieg oder sterben" which was an expression widely used during WWII. although as already pointed out, "Sieg" is victory....
Glory translates rather to "Ruhm" or "Ehre" than "Herrlichkeit" in this context.
we actually have an expression "Ruhm und Ehre" but as you can see, that doesn't include the possible negative outcome of above saying
i would suggest you to stick to "Sieg oder sterben"/"siegen oder sterben"/"Sieg oder Tod"
there's just no absolute equivalent to "Glory or die"...

cheers,
ralf
