Can you please explain how you translated my last name because from my knowledge of punjabi I only can see two letters there? I only see an S and a G.

Dear Veer jee or Bhen jee,
First of all, ਸਂਗ is spelt wrong. It should be ਸੰਘਾ . I've checked it on google and that is how it is commonly spelt. Sangha is only a transliteration of the Punjabi, so you will not have exactly the same letters in Punjabi. To give you a classic example, the word Singh has five letters but in Punjabi it is written as ਸਿੰਘ which is only two letters, Sassa ਸ and Ghagga ਘ; has one vowel sound - siharee ਿ and one nasal sound - tipee ੰ Ghagga is commonly transliterated as gh in English. However, with regards to pronunciation there is a special rule. If a word starts with ghagga it is pronounced just as it is e.g. ਘਰ ghar (house) but if ghagga comes in the middle, like in the word ਸਿੰਘ, it is pronounced as if it were a gagga ਗ. The same pronunciation rule applies to ਡ and ਢ, ਦ and ਧ, ਬ and ਭ. Hope this helps, gsingh |

ਰਾਜਦੀਪ ਸੰਘਾ. This is the correct spelling of your first and second names. To be sure, you could always go to the Gurdwara and ask the Granthi.
I strongly encourage you, if you are not already doing so, is to learn Punjabi. A good place to start is this website: Online Punjabi Teaching Hope the confusion is cleared up. gsingh |
