What Mr.Tvs wrote is correct, but it is a female form.
It means "the awaken woman". Long a (aa, A आ ) at the end of a word denotes mostly female nominative nouns or adjectives. Correct is बुद्धः buddhaḥ . In western transcription the raw word is used. (buddha in stead of buddhaḥ). The a is not the a of father but the u in bud. Almost like the e muet in French. The root form is बुध् (budh). It is a verbal root. It means to awake. But it is not the most common word for to awake. The common root for to awake is जागृ (jāgṛ). बुध् (budh) means also: to have insight. To understand how something is working. That is why Buddha is बुद्धः buddha(ḥ) and not जागृतः /jāgṛta(ḥ).
