Voilà, je me demandais ce que pouvait bien signifier Maha Roshini. Sur un site j'ai vu que cela signifait grande lumière. Mais dans mon livre sur la mythologie hindoue, s'ils traduisent souvent Maha par grand, il n'est jamais fait allusion à Roshini, et j'ai commencé à croire que le site avait fait une confusion avec la déesse Roshini (ce site est un site sur les mangas alors...). J'ai installé Freelang et là j'ai trouvé roshnee comme traduction du mot français lumière. Donc le site ne s'était pas trompé sur le sens. Mais pour ce qui est de l'orthographe; lequel est correct? (je suppose qu'il y a des règles d'écriture en alphabet latin, comme pour le japonais et le chinois).

non, il n'y a pas vraiment de régle pour le hindi retranscrit en caractère latin.

mais je connais plusieur système pour écrire le hindi en alphabet latin:
version française:
Roshni (en fait on aurait même pu marquer roshnî pour marquer le "i long")

version anglaise:
roshnee (ee= i long)
c'est la plus courament utilisé sur internet et pour les films de Bollywood.


par contre je crois que tu dois confondre hindi et sanskrit (le sanskrit pour les indiens c'est un peu comme le latin pour nous, sauf qu'en Inde c'est toujours une langue vivante avec ses journaux, chaîne de télé et compagnie):
"maha" (d'ailleurs on devrait l'écrire mâhâ, ce sont des " a long") c'est du sanskrit, en hindi c'est "mahaaN".

mais souvent la retranscription est simplifié pour le français.

faut que je cherche mais je crois que pour le sanskrit il existe des régles tout de même pour la retranscription...

hyogapag, i don't understand what is the question since i don't know french. but if you are asking what is right - roshini or roshnee, it is "roshnee" which means light/brightness/lustre.
i wish i could understand what you are saying filip... i feel it is not from sanskrit - i think it has an urdu-persian source.

roshni or roshnee, literally speaking not the source of the light, but 'the light', .i.e illumination that is emitted from the lamp.
Roshini, I think means the dispeller of sorrow or dejection - Rosh mean to be upset about something or me dejected or be crestfallen.
