Hi.. um, I know this is kind of off topic, but I was just wondering how you guys (as in moderators/senior members [or even members]) learned French so well? I'm only enrolled in français 1, but I was just wondering if you had stories or advice about learning French.
Thanks for the help, Aiias ![]() |

Hi Aiias and welcome on the forums
![]() Well I guess the people who speak the best french around are native speakers so that's not fair comparing them to non native ones... Else the best you can do with french is to talk with native. As far as I know there is always a difference between the spoken french and the one you learn at classes. But i am glad to hear that you are learning frecnh where are you from? |

I just think French sounds like an interesting language. I like learning new things and since I have no problem with English—and it is so very easy for me—I'd like to learn a new language, in addition to it.

I agree that talking to a native speaker is just good for a learner!!
When you talk to a French, you even happen to learn funny slangs, and that's interesting, because I believe that slangs are considered as part of culture! Good luck with French :-) |

There's more than one way to skin a cat [I've always thought that a rather repulsive saying, but it's part of the language...]
So there are various ways to learn a language. Individuals vary in their aptitudes and learning styles, so what works for one may not work for others. Nevertheless the single most important factor, I believe, is the amount of time you spend using the language. What you also need to do is understand what works best for you, and try to use the time available most efficiently. |
