Belfast in 1960s, Kevin and Brian are two Catholic boys.
Kevin’s sister was seriously injured during street troubles.
Brian want to avenge her with rebels.
Kevin don’t want anything to do with guns.

Who do you feel closer to, Brian or Kevin ? Why ?

I see things eye to eye with Kevin, i couldn’t agree more with his ideas when he said that violence is not the solution to the street troubles. Indeed, it would be useless to add new vctims, it would have the effect of increasing the war tension. As far as i am concerned, i think dialog is the best way to stop civil war. Besides, since IRA announced it would destroy its weapons and since British troops started withdrawing there were not incidents between Catholics and Protestants. War is stupid, the movie The wind that Shakes the barley by Ken Loach show us how a soldier can kill his family.
However, Brian’s reaction is understandable, one of hos friends was injured. So, it is logical that he want to avenge her. The only means for him to show his anger is to take arms. Not answer to this provocation shall be for him a kind of weakness. But, in my view, the right weakness is to answer to this provocations. You should not bring in the stupid game of violence. The religions must not be used to justify these acts of violence. Si i feel closer to Kevin but it ould be wrong to say we can’t understand Brian’s reaction.

Merci d'avance
