even though I am french the meaning remains pretty unclear... and word associations sound weird... anyway here is a litteral translation, to be improved and re-thought by some other people who may have some better idea thereafter  Si je suis...d'une autre etoffe La trame n'en est pas de vos oiseaux de mer Mais de leur froides proies ourdie. Thanks so much.
That quote was in the front of a book I just read. I tried looking up the author, but other than basic autobiographical info I couldn't find anything. Most of the sites were in French and I didn't see any English translations of any of his poetry.There was no credit given for the title of the poem so all I had was the quote. Even though your translation was literal rather than poetic is does still make more sense in the context of the book. Maybe there is some one who is familiar with his poetry and could give me more background. Or maybe knows the title of the poem. |
