En chinois, the middle earth veut dire 中土, ca veut dire le centre de la chine, du pays, au centre de la terre, ou la terre centrale. I'm afraid I have to explain in English.China has been a big and proud country in the East for more than 5000 years. It always thought it was in the middle of the earth geograhically. Besides the middle part of China, other smaller tribes are also under China's rule, but geographically they're not in the middle, but to the west, i.e the tribes among the border. This situation is somewhat like the Ryushu islands and Hawaii and Guam nowdays. 中土 refers to the main/middle part of China. The story in English is The Journey to the West, diff from its french translation. The West means India, and the story was about the Chinese monk and his students going to India to get the books on Buddhism. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Voyage_en_Occident. Pluiepoco, could you give more explanation on 中土? ![]() Last edited by chinoise; 04-02-2006 at 02:09 AM. |

Merci beaucoup !

Bonjour,
http://www.greatestcities.com/Asia/C...ache_city.html Shache is in Xinjiang. The people in Xinjiang are considered as one of the minority tribes, so it's not in the middle of China. In Chinese history, China had had conflicts with many small countries in the border, and tried to make peace with them. China was such a big country and it had problem looking after itself. It's policy was to prevent other countries from attacking itself and to make peace. It didn't want to rule those small countries since they had their own language and kings and culture. For countries that were defeated in wars, as long as they paid tribute and sent gifts to China every year and acknowledged China was the big brother, China was at peace with them. Btw, I've never heard of a version about going to Shache. The original Chinese text is 天竺, which most people agree to be India. Last edited by chinoise; 04-03-2006 at 03:00 AM. |
