Ne courbe l'échine que devant Dieu >anglais

Bonjour !

J'aurais besoin qu'on me traduise cette phrase en anglais :

"Ne courbe l'échine que devant Dieu."

Il faudrait que la traduction colle au plus près au sens et à la "poésie" de la phrase française svp.

Another way of saying it:
"Do not bow down yourself to no one but to God."

Well a litteral translation would be " Don't bow before anyone but God."

But anglophones tend to say... " Don't kneel before anyone but God. "
(It's not exactly the same thing. But the meaning is there)

I mean no offense to you or your efforts.

But from the perspective of an anglophone your translation has a very "homosexual" feel to it. If someone actually said "Don't bend for anyone but God." you would probably get a few snickers. There are lots of jokes about bending for a friend, not bending over to pick up the bar of soap, not to mention "bend over and I'll be your daddy."

I hope this message can be posted now... Since I'm back, I find many problems when replying... but never mind.

Since the asker wants a "poetic nuance", I believe that more poetic than this, there's no other text:

"You shall not bow down to them or worship them (...)"
Exodus 20:5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
