Hi this is for a school project, any help would be appreciated.

How would you say

They might be charged.

The school has said the as soon as teachers were alerted a stop was put to the attack.

Hi Gerard,,

I thought a little bit about your sentences, trying to find out in which context it was said. I suppose it has something to do with gangs (ore police?) operating in schools. I think also that the word "The school has said the as soon as teachers...a.s.o" should be "that.
Provided that both suppositions are correct, your sentences might be translated that way:

The school ...a.s.o. = L' école a dit que dès qu' un professeur était alerté (ore: dès qu' un professeur portait quelque soupçon) l' attaque était stoppée (ore: était interrompue)

Does that make any sense?

Actually i guess "they might be charged" can be understood many ways
The best would be to know a bit more about the context
Else we would have a pretty long list of all what it could mean

Another suggestion for "they might be charged": if it is "charged with something, then it would mean "ils pourraient être accusés".

But I agree with F_D: more context please!

on dit soit:
