Default recherche le slogan francais.

Bonjour tout!

Je recherche le slogan francais que tout le Francais Parisien saura.
Ce <<may be>> le slogan politique, annoncant, citation, idiom, ou chanson. (pardon, i haven't learn how to use 'etre' in french....)

Hmm, I occasionally meet some francais dans hongkong, but I can only say some stupid things like enchante, comment allez vous, and ..........sans dictionnaire, je ne peut pas parler francais..

I'd like to surprise them by throwing out some idiomitic expression, giving them an illusion that I know french culture well.

Any suggestions about what i should say to them?

Merci beaucoup.

Hello Yau!

I am sure that you can surprise some french people if you use the expression "ça, c' est très branché".
This means "this here is very uptodate".

By the way: "enchanté" and "comment allez-vous" are no "stupid things", but only polite...

I am sure that you will get lots of other suggestions!

Good learning,
Androc

hi androc,

merci! Est-ce que <<ça, c' est très branché>> est le slogan annocant? It seems like a advertising word used in something like digital camera. :>

Hi Yau,

1) what do you mean by "slogan annocant"?

2) You are right: it really seems to have to do with some electronic equipment... and I think this is also where it comes from. It means that the thing (ore the person) you attribute this expression is very modern and knows a lot about the modern way of life and about the news generally, not only the technical ones.
You say "ça, c'est très branché" when you show something new and very popular,
and "tu es très branché" ore "vous êtes très branché(s)" to persons being very up to date, knowing a lot about any kind of news.
Speaking about somebody, you say "il (elle) est très branché(e)".
I am sure you will have lots of occasions to use it in Hong Kong, as it is one of THE places where things happen nowadays...

We can see how the technical evolution influences the speaking of people: some decades ago people certainly found it very modern to say things like "I am under pressure" ore "the crowd is electrified"...

Androc, thanks so much for the explanation! Could you tell me more french expressions that can make others impressive?

Btw, for "slogan annocant", here i mean "advertising slogan". Sorry i don't know how to say it in french. Is it 'le mot d'annocant"?

Hi Yau,

I feel very sorry, but I am afraid the word "annocant" doesn' t exist in the french language...
But now I understand in fact how you built this word.
Are you searching for expressions you can use in an advertising campaign?

I don't know where I should begin with... Maybe could we begin that way: would you have some things you wish to say?

Hi androc,

In hongkong, advertising slogan often becomes everyday words but these words are never known to Cantonese learners. I don't know if it's the same in france too... I just want to pretend to know much about french life. :>
