well, i thought we could write here what books have we read lately and rate them....let`s say on a scale of 1 to 10... 10, being the best
i`ll start with "memoirs of a gheisha" - rate 7 (i`m a little harsh and pretentious especially when it comes to books) nice book, but not quite for my taste... kind of boring generally... not much action, kind of sloppy, like a soap opera.. most of the book describes the japanesse way of life, which was the most interesting part. if you receive it as a gift... it`s ok. if not, better go see the movie, it takes less time ![]() |

I've not seen the movie yet, but I liked the book... Rating 7.5... as you've said, the most interesting thing is that it describes very well Japanese way of life, and I also think the author has been able to investigate deeply the feelings of the characters... But it's a bit long, you're right..

As for memoirs of a Geisha I thought the movie out did the book, maybe becuase you got to actually see the Kimono and hear the music instead of picture it through the eyes of the author.
Jennifer Government, this book is set in a kind of market hell hole where the free market system rules everything. I thought it was really interestin but takes a while to get into. I'm kinda curious about what it would be like to live in a world influenced only by profit etc, anyways 8/10 ![]()

i have really really loved "La libellule de ses huit ans" Martin Page. I rate it 9/10
a very weird style, but once you get used to it, the novel seems to flow in the only direction it could. the charachters are uncommon. completely. but their stangeness is what captures the reader. it`s a book that you can`t let go until you finish it. it`s almost a life itself. impressive end, but it was the only one possible. I can`t wait to read another book of this amazing author. |
