Default Chinese Dragon Culture

The Chinese dragon is one of the most recognized symbols in the world. We see this splendid creature in pictures, posters,in paintings and on the streets during Chinese festivals.Dragons are deeply rooted in Chinese culture,so Chinese people often consider themselves "the descendants of the dragon".Nobody really knows where the Chinese dragon comes from.It looks like a combination of many animals, and it may be just a product of the Chinese imagination.

Chinese emperors believed that they were the real dragons, and the sons of the heavens. Thus, the beds they slept on were called "dragon beds";their thrones called "dragon seats" and the emperor's ceremonial dresses called "dragon robes".Dragons can also be seen on the buildings of the Imperial Palace. The dragon is a symbol of imperial power.

The drogon also plays an important part in Chinese festivals. The Dragon Boat Festivals is an almost purely dragon-related festival, which is now a popular international event. There are many Chinese stories about the dragon. There is a very famous idiom--"Lord Ye's Love of Dragons," which means loving what one really fears. The story goes like this:Lord Ye loved dragons deeply. He had dragonimages everywhere and he thought about dragons all the time. His love of dragons inspired a real dragon to visit him. When he saw the real dragon,he was frightened to death.

yah, yknow alot of cultures focus on dragons even today.

I think the Chinese Imp dragon was meant to have three claws right, well I think the Russian model did too.

In Europe dragons are symbols of disease and terror (In England we make a big deal out of killing them) but I hear in asia theyre good luck?

In chinese culture dragon means power and can bring good luck to people .he has four claws or seldomly ,three claws .

There is an old chinese quote ,say "the dragon can be big or small, can fly or dive .he can make clouds and fog when he is big and can hide himself for changing into a tiny thing as small as a grass seed. he can soar in the universe and lurk beneath the wave" .

In our myth the king of dragon in charge of raining . And we all know that the corn can grow with suffient rains . so dragon is important in chinese culture.

Really? What's the name of the myth? Can you translate it's name into Roman script?
