Hello to all of you; I would like to know do you have a proverb like "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" in your own language, or do you have some other proverbs for saying "do not be ungrateful when you receive a gift"

Hello, Dusio!

I've heard this saying in several languages.
Here are some examples:

Latin:
  • Donato non sunt ora inspicienda caballo.
  • Donum quodcunque probato.
  • Noli equi dentes inspicere donati.
  • Non debet ora dati caute inspectare caballi.
  • Placere debet quod gratis datur.
  • Si quis dat mannos, ne quaere in dentibus annos.
  • Si tibi do mannos, numeres ne dentibus annos. (Sprichwörter Lexikon)
What is the Polish version of this saying ?

There is a French proverb (very close to what Framboise has said) it is:

Default In Polish...

It has the same meaning as in English: Darowanemu koniowi nie zagląda się w zęby ( Do not look into the mouth of a horse which was given to you )

(It's very close to the English one!)

Hi!

For this sentence "do not be ungrateful when you receive a gift" we can say "não cuspas no prato em que comeste" (literaly, do not spit on the plate that you ate).

For the real proverb you added, I would say it is "A cavalo dado não se olha o dente" which I guess it hasn´t got the same meaning of the one that I mention above...

Ciao,

sflor
