Salut Sflor !!!!!

Ciao Ragazza !!!
A presto !!!

Salut Calavrise

Hi alip08 and welcome,

Thank you for your remarks. If "authentique" doesn´t sound quite good in French... mmm.... let´s wait for a native speaker then to tell us if it is or not.

What doesn´t sound good in a language may result perfectly well in another... like mine native language for instance .

Anyway, I liked your opinion on this subject, even if I don´t agree with it... I´m sorry... I think it´s just a different way about each of us can see things.

See you around,

sflor

Hi Sflor,

I agree with you that what doesn't sound good in a language may sound perfectly in another one but I wasn't actually thinking about the way it sounds but about what it means. Although in my opinion it is not only a matter of translation but of interpretation and adapting to another language. But you know much more about that than me since you are a translator. You are right, let's see what a native speaker of french has to say.

Hi again alip08!

Well, I´m glad to see that you´re well informed about my ID , but that it´s a not reason to know or understand more than others ... we are always learning and we never know too much . On the other hand, I think the fact of being a translator sometimes it´s tricky, because the more languages we know, the more is risky to fail in something, and we should be carefull.

It´s a kind of that Italian adage "Traduttore, Traditore!"

See you!

Or "les traductions les belles infidèles". You are right, there's always the risk of mixing up rules in a language with others in another language. I'm thinking of the " time clause" in English (when I grow up), Spanish (cuando crezca/sea mayor), French (quand je serai grand). It's the risk you have to take. But it's not too big if you think that there are people that get paid to tame bulls for instance. Have a nice evening.
