Well, sadly I forgot the longest official word in a European language. I just remember that is in Swedish and means something like 'military air defense system of the Baltic Sea'. I'll post it if I find it again.

Btw, the city Szczebrzeszyn in Poland is nice too. Though it might also be nice to go to Hell once, it's near Trondheim in Norway.

As I know, in Poland there is also a small vill which name is "Hell" but nobody knows where it is..

Swedish? Maybe that : I found it during my searching :
  • "Nordostersiokustartilleriflugspaningssimulatoranla geningsmaterielunderhall supptoljningssystemdiskussioninlaggforberedelsearb eten"
I don't know Swedish at all and they're quite complicate. I can give explanation in Polish for now.

In Polish : Prace przygotowane do udziału w dyskusji nad systemem utrzymania wsparcia materialnego symulatora nadzoru z powietrza dla północno - wschodniej cześci artylerii nadbrzeżnej Bałtyku.

Yes, Joe Gold, it would be right as I compare..

There is another quite long swedish word:
  • Fyrrdejuhhingkkunkassaniwerrtokullii
In Polish: breloczek do kluczy do kajuty kapitana żeglugi dunajskiej

In English, I found also :
  • antidisestablishmentarianism
  • floccinaucinihilipilification
  • trinitrophenylmethylnitramine
but they're aren't used in spoken English.. Hm.. rien de bizarre

It's interesting.. after if we develope this subject it would be nice to create some list of the longest words in each language

I found the longest word in french that :

anticonstitutionnellement .. but I'm not sur if it is the longest.

In Spanish:
  • I found : superextraordinarísimo
I read that is the word listed in the Guinness recordbook and the word most often cited as the longest in the language. (It means "most superextraordinary.")

Also :
  • esternocleidomastoideo, (the name of a certain neck muscle)
  • anticonstitucionalmente ("unconstitutionally") - comme en francais un peu (?)
  • electroencefalografista ("electroencephalograph technician")
Ah.. ca suffit peut-etre pour aujourd'hui Such a long post.. :s

Salut tout le monde,
I just spent some time reading what all wrote out there, and I enjoyed it :D

It was fun how you went from hard prunounced words, to tongues twisters, and at last coming to the longest words!!

Amuse toi bien.
