c'est la lettre "r" qui est tres difficile
after so many years, my husband is still trying to master what he calls the "French RRRRRRRR" sound. :D

He always complain that my French accent is not what he hears on educational TV (of course, they are Canadians speaking with a Parisian accent), or interviews of French politicians on TV (of course, they are from Paris ),....

People always ask " .... your accent ?" , so we collect their guesses .. ... hillarious (Hungarian, Russian, Australian (?), Lebanese !!! ) ...... about the whole world :D .... BUT "no, that's not true, you're not French" !!!! [they sometimes believe "south Philadelphia" before French. :D ]

RESULT: 99% of people think I am German (je suis du Sud-Ouest .... a bit far from a German accent - in my opinion)

So, to come back on track:

Mike sympathizes with creolophones, the French "R" sound is a tough one for people from South Jersey too. :D

For the word "perejil", the closest I could explain for someone from Poland, is to pronounce as if it were "perechil" (or "perehil"). Just remember that the stress is on the i.

In my country it is quite difficult to say this verse:
De postkoetskoetsier poetst zijn postkoets met postkoetspoets.
The mailcarriegecourier waxes his carriege with mailcarriegewaxe.

And so is "hottentottententententoonstelling" or "vliegtuiglandingsbaanlampjesverkoopkraampje".

For foreign people, especially Germans can't say a city's name correctly:
's-Hertogenbosch sertochenbos (in the second world war, the Dutch asked to pronounce this word to check if that certain person was a German).

Also a very old sentence to exercise Dutch pronunciation:

De kat krabt de krullen van de trap.
The cat scratches the curls of the stairs.

There are a lot more, but these are the only ones I could think of at the moment. Do you want a longer one? Here it is:

medischwetenschapcentrabijeenkomstenregelings-communicatiesysteembeheerder.

(beat that!)

The longest word in English according to statistics:
pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis
(a lung disease)
The longest name of a place (in Wales):
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysilio gogogoch
