Вейдель

I have already told you that Weidel is spelled Вейдель in Ukrainian (and in Russian as well). Just type Вейдель (Weidel) in the google search box and you will be able to see it for yourself although you may have to look in the cache of the results.

I have found the aforementioned chemist Hugo Weidel spelled as Уго Вейдел (Вейдел without the soft sign ь at the end) on a Russian site. This Russian site is only to be seen in the cache. It is the result of a search of a Frenchman s319740517.onlinehome.fr/info-vitamin+b3+niacin+niacin+deficiency+pellagra+b+vit amins-ru-VITB3-health.php Weidel is mentioned in the history of niacin.

However, I dont think you can take away the soft sign in Ukrainian. And you dont pronounce Weidel with a thick l, do you? One example is that the German Baroque composer Georg Friedrich Hndel (English: George Frideric Handel) is written as Георг Фрідріх Гендель in the Ukrainian wikipedia, that is with the soft sign at the end of his surname. Георг Фрідріх Гендель — Вікіпедія

Even if you pronounce ei as y I think you should keep ей because that is the only way I have seen this name spelled. However I can give you two similar names spelled with і in Ukrainian: Фідель Кастро (Fidel Castro), Відель (the French village Videlles situated 45 kilometers from Paris).

Hello,
Translated into Ukrainian, your name would be (I think)

Роман Амвросій Лукавецкій

(Ambrose in Ukrainian sounds like Amvrossij)
