Cracow a city wrapped in legend, where time flows differently, and where every moment becomes a moment of history. For centuries Krakow was the capital of Poland, the seat of kings, drawing great scholars and artists from the whole world. It is their talents and imagination we must thank for the city's rich legacy of unique historical relics, which reflect the most important trends in European culture.
The renaissance Royal Castle at Wawel, the gothic St Mary's Basilica, the historical trade pavilions of the Cloth Hall, the former separate Jewish city of Kazimierz, and even the Nowa Huta district, absorbed by Krakow together with its socialist-realist, industrial architecture, are all places which make a visit to Krakow extremely worthwhile. Although the city no longer plays such an important administrative role, for many people, thanks to its rich history, Krakow nevertheless represents a synthesis of all things Polish, connecting tradition with modernity. In the special atmosphere of the beautiful and mysterious streets of the Old Town and Kazimierz you will find everything you need to allow you to escape from everyday life. Galleries full of exhibitions, cafes, pubs and restaurants: all of this is an integral part of any visit to Krakow. And all this is merely a modest part of what we can offer travellers seeking exciting destinations on the world map. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

why didn`t You paste a wonderful Nowa Huta view, too posh photos?
I don`t like Krakow, too many tourists, students and you cannot find a bloody newsagent in a centre...like in da main market only dragon innocently splits with fire, shame cannot burn this all crap about it

Well, Krakow is the place to be, definitely! I've been there 3 times. I also know some people who went there, some go there on a regular basis. I discovered that a lot of people cannot appreciate the city, like some of my friends who go there mostly for cheap beer and parties... I'm sure, malibu&coke, that you wouldn't say such things about Krakow if you got to know it better, i.e. outside the centre.
Last summer I went there for a 2-week course of Polish language and culture and saw many, many places that I hadn't known about before - also outside Krakow there are places well worth seeing. So it all depends on how you choose to spend your time there - I chose to experience as much as possible - it's good to have a good guide, someone who knows the city well - was lucky! If you're interested in doing something like that, have a look at the organizer's website: VARIA: Center of Polish Language, Polish for foreigners, learn Polish in Cracow. Good luck, malibu&coke ![]() |
