Sorry Bernhard, but I've never heard of Fallafel! but I'm sure it's good!
Thanks for the link FD. Never heard of that association ! Maybe it's because I used to live in the Region C, away from Paris. That's originally right about the French-Turkish relations. Actually it dates back to the Ottoman Empire. It's at that period that Turkey borrowed some words from the French, it's no more happening today. Nowadays, it would be more borrowings from the English. You're right about the funny translitteration: example: "Caki çan" is in fact........Jackie Chan! :D or: matmazel is in fact........? I'm sure u guessed!

I am not sure. All my friends - french or polish - who have visited Turkey are simply charmed. Hospitality, food, landscapes - they speak only about their next trip in Turkey. |

As a person (from England) who only 'discovered' Turkey this year (3 trips), I have to say I agree with the comments in this thread about driving... though everything else about the country I have found to be excellent....the food, the weather, the scenery, and most of all the Turkish people. I have never met so many genuine, warm people within one country.
So much so I am keen to set up a second home there. I like the rich mixture of culture, sea, town, bazaars in Kusadasi. Senni, do you know Kusadasi well, and would you recommend Kusadasi? Would English be welcomed or resented for buying a second home in Turkey? ![]() |

------------- Don't worry Cliff, you won't be the first English to buy a house in Turkey. And like the others, I'm sure you'll be most welcome. You must have seen how hospitable Turkish people are. Also, lots of Turkish people, especially among the young, are craving for meeting English people in order to practice the language. So, just don't hesitate! I've never been to Kusadasi, I just heard that it was an extremely touristic place. Some even say that sometimes there are more tourists than locals in there! What I know of is Antalya, have you ever been there?

Hi guys
Cliff, i have been many times in Turkey and I think I know pretty well Kusadasi. Senni is right it is a very touristic place. I must say I like Kusadasi but If I would buy a house, it would not be there. I would look for a much more quiet place and with no such buildings. But everything depends on what you are looking for Hope I am not getting you upset or disapointed We can talk about it if you want to ![]() |
