Thank you Nana,
The Great Wall was built before Jesus and then expanded in Qin Dynsty, with the primary purpose of protecting our Chinese farming land from Huno attackes. Then until Manchu-Qing's invasion in to Central China, the Wall had been serving as the manmade screen from far-northern Asian. And Beijing is an ancient capital but the first capitalisation of Beijing is made by Jin Kingdom, a Huno or Mongol Nation conflicting with Chinese Song Dynasty. So Beijing is not such an older capital as Luoyang (Henan), which was once the capital of Nine Dynasties. Now Beijing receives many foreigners, most of them visitors, but there are also many foreigners settled in there or have job there. Beijing is an enchanting place, mixture of cultures and human "kinds", mixture of languages, and all in all, it's an international capital. Your pictures include some of the old architectures, which were built in Ming and Qing Dynsties. And the LoGou Bridage witnessed the Japanese invasion in 1937. We notify the heritage in memory of our national indignity. Beiing is also a narrow city, because there are always too many people. So othe urban traffic has been crowded, you see in the picture the omibus is made 2-storeys, which is unneccesary in many other domestic cities or even provincial capitals, or even in foreign cities as in your countries. It's just because that Beijing is a rare city with metropolitan millions of people, and so unorderly urban planning, and so many architectural heritage, all of which made this glorious capital so narrow! Among your last pictures are relics of Qing's Yuan-ming-yuan(Juen-Ming-Juen) Palace which was robbed by foreign alliance (headed by English and French, German, Italian armies in 1900), after the Alliance took over the Capital and robbed all treasuries in the Imperial Palaces, everything that they can carry away, and those unmovable were broken at the place, after robbed the world treasures, they set fires on the Palaces and removed them in ashes, and the great fire burns 10 days leaving only some solid stone poles there, which stand till today to display its former beauty and majesty. Also the last ones are gadgets on the markets, the scarfs are of Chinese minority Miao or Tibetan, and the wall-decorative butterfly frames look good, you know that in China they are thousands kinds of butterflies and in aspiration of these flying insects, we Chiese made kites-Feng-zheng, of various kinds, much more than what you can imagine in your own country and national culture, for this only, China is renowned as the Home to Kites. Then, Shanghai is a old capitalist city also international earliest in late Qing, when foreigners "borrowed" and "lent" special landlots there to have their embassies and consulates and guarding armies. Until Sun-Yiet-Sien(Sun-Zhong-Shan)resumed Chinese supreme ownership of these lands in 1912. You can see there are very old european style buildings which were just built in those times. But now the most fantastic features of this international city is the skycraping buildings and the first-class subways or metro . Since Pudong is over the Yangtze River (Chang-Jiang), and you visiting there can see the Chinese longest River and at the same time, see how the river joins the East Sea. Especially, nightsight of Shanghai is superb. Well, you may notice the narrow street between buildings in East-West mixed styles, and seemingly old enough, OK, I think they are residences of old officers of the Repulic of China under Kieng-Kie-Shi (Jiang-Jie-Shi)'s Kuomingtung.Dun-Huang, another heritage of relic under the former pillage of 8-Alliance. Many Buddhist frescos were knocked off by those civilised robbers or thieves, and now most of the works are on show in Great Britain Museums. The remaining is valueless comparing with the lost ones, even though, they are great the unique over the world. Last edited by pluiepoco; 07-31-2005 at 08:40 AM. |

Guilin is in Kast(Castre?)-landform, that limetones over thousands of years are melt away by the ever-flowing waters in the Guangxi Province, here are beautiful hills and waters, among them with kindful Chinese minorities, Bai and Miao, who dress very artistically and uniquely. Li River (Lijiang) is the most blue water there, and together with its adjoining green hills, makes Guilin the "Most Attractive Tourist Destination of the World".
Tibet is called Too-bo in Chinese Tang Dynasty, which was a dependent district until then, during the Chinese history, the Tibet rebelled several times, but now they are Chinese and they confirm that they are united into Chinese Han nation, there great transformations have taken place, with the sponor of more-developed Chinese regions, and now in Tibet many Han people and other Chinese merchants doing business and Tibetan don't like to call themseves Tibetan anymore, but prefer to the nomiation of Chinese, but as a single nation, they are named "Bo", which is a Turkic name, and the Tibetan nation is quite near Turkic and Mongol, and they were once nomandic. In most border places of China, people believe in Buddhist, and you can see Lharma Temples and many Lharma believers in Tibet and its neighboring Sichuan, and In West China--Yunnan and Guangxi, you can also see picture in Guilin, Guangxi, that people believe in Buddhism, so Buddhism is the most popular religion in China, and Chinese Buddhism is not the true but cinized Buddhism, however, it's the most famous Buddhism in the World, and you know that Luoyang's Shaolin Temple is sacred spot for worldwide Buddhists. AS to Tibet, I want to say more, because I come to be interested in to Chinese Borders History, and now read alot about it. Tibet (Too-Bo), once conquered almost whole West lands including today's Xinjiang and Tibet, which exerted a challenge to Kingkis's Mongol authority in Chinese North Border. They they were forced to be obedient to Mongol Empire who also turned China into his dependent district. During Tibet's history, its people have believed in many religions, like Christian, Islamic, and finally Buddhism, and today Xinjiang Uygur people (once reigned by the Tibetan nation) still remained some Christian and Buddhist believes, but the Uygur now mostly believes in Islam, since they use Arabic letters for more than 6 centuries.
