Kochi formerly known as Cochin is a city in southern India, and the commercial hub of the state of Kerala. In recent years the city has witnessed heavy investment, posting a GDP growth rate of 8.3%; thus making it one of the fastest-growing second-tier metro cities in India. Marari Beach is located approximately about 12 km from Alleppey and 60 km from Cochin City. Marari Beach got its name from the local fishing village Mararikulam. The Lighthouse Beach is the southern most beaches and is popular among the tourists who spend most of their time at this beach. Life on Kovalam beach begins late in the day and continues till late at night.
