Hello, Alaska,
I am hoping that you can translate English to Irish Gaelic as well. I am having a medal inscribed, and they lost my engraving instructions, so now I am back to square one! (Well, almost... I was given the following as a partial translation, but was advised it could be incorrect.) Could you verify (or tweak ) the following:Go dtuga Naomh Mícheál cosaint duit i gcónaí a chara Choíche agus go brách do chara It's supposed to mean "May Saint Michael protect you always, my friend. Always and forever your friend..." Also, I have completely lost the translation for "A house begat a friendship." I appreciate your help!!! |

Feebee,
You are my World translates as 'Is tusa mo shaol' ("Iss TUH-suh muh HAY-ul") (literally, this could also be translated as 'You are my life'. Another word you might find for 'world' is domhan, which means the physical world / planet. Saol means world as in your world, perceptions, experiences, etc.

Waulkere, that translation looks fine to me.
For 'A house begat a friendship', what exactly do you mean? How about this: Thosaigh cairdeas le theach '(a) friendship started with a house' or Cairdeas a thosaigh le theach 'a friendship that started with a house' or: Thosaigh ár gcairdeas le theach 'our friendship started with a house'
