Could someone please translate these words for me and tell me how they're pronounced?

1) foithin (is this feminine for shelter?)

2)And how do you say The shelter?

3) faoiseamh (reprieve, breathing space?)

1) fothain means shelter (there is no feminine word for shelter, this is a feminine word, but it doesn't mean that it is only to be used with women, if that;s what you're asking)
But this is shelter as in the abstract idea of shelter, not a physical shelter.

2) Which brings us to number 2 - I assume by 'the shelter' you are looking for a physical structure that gives shelter?

3) yes, faoiseamh means 'relief', 'a reprieve'.

I am looking to get my family crest (Gallagher) tattooed on my back. I also want to put a personal motto below it but I would like to have it translated to Irish. It means a lot to me and I would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advnace.

It won't look very good in Irish I think.... why do you want a motto that means a lot to you in a language that you don't understand?

(the problem is that 'live' here, 'mair' does not have the same sense as the English 'live' - it means more like 'exist', 'survive')

That website hasn't been working I have been trying to get onto it for a while. I just wanted to get it into the same language as where my family is from to give it more of an authentic feel.

Actually the meaning exist is sort of what i was looking for because you only live once, and should live only for yourself (free) not fall victim or be held back by society.

What do you think about that? I would like to hear your opinion as when I get tattoos done I like to have many peoples opinions into the the piece of art. It makes it better.
