Could someone please translate these words for me and tell me how they're pronounced?
1) foithin (is this feminine for shelter?) 2)And how do you say The shelter? 3) faoiseamh (reprieve, breathing space?) Thank you. Last edited by MrsMenopausal; 02-22-2008 at 08:46 PM. |

But this is shelter as in the abstract idea of shelter, not a physical shelter. 2) Which brings us to number 2 - I assume by 'the shelter' you are looking for a physical structure that gives shelter? In that case 'an foscadán' 3) yes, faoiseamh means 'relief', 'a reprieve'. Do you want pronunciations in English phonetics? It's hard to do that for the sounds of Irish, but they are somewhat like this: 1) fothain (FUH-hing) 2) an foscadán (uh FUS-kuh-daan/dawn) 3) faoiseamh (FWEE-shoo/shuv) |

Well, here it is Mair uair amháin, mair go saor (the problem is that 'live' here, 'mair' does not have the same sense as the English 'live' - it means more like 'exist', 'survive') For a tattoo, I'd recommend getting a second opinion here: Translate English to Irish Gaelic Translations for Free |

That website hasn't been working I have been trying to get onto it for a while. I just wanted to get it into the same language as where my family is from to give it more of an authentic feel.
Actually the meaning exist is sort of what i was looking for because you only live once, and should live only for yourself (free) not fall victim or be held back by society. What do you think about that? I would like to hear your opinion as when I get tattoos done I like to have many peoples opinions into the the piece of art. It makes it better. |

I'm trying to come up with an idea for a knotwork layout and I need a good phrase like "may joy follow you forever" or "peace be with you always" in gaelic.
