Hello to all
I'm needing a hand with these sentences. I would like to know which one would you chose if you would have to pick "The most proper translation" for: ("If you mess with me. You will regret it.") (1) -Ma bheanas tu riumsa. Bidh aithreachas ort. (2) -Ma's buair thu mi. Bithidh duilich leat. (3) -Ma chuireas tu dragh orm. Gabhaidh thu aithreachas. (4) -Ma chuireas sibh dragh orm. 'S sibhsa a bhios duilich. Please Help me chose. Tapadh leibh. MacPhee ![]() |

well, first of all, this is a bit of a strange sentence. why not be a bit more friendly? ;-)
also, it should really be one sentence, not two. i think the most natural way would be: Ma chuireas sibh dragh orm, 's ann sibhse a bhitheas duilich. or alternatively put "tu" for "sibh", and "thusa" for "sibhse", and you have a more informal way of addressing someone ("sibh" is the formal way). apart from that, "bhitheas" can be written "bhios" as it was in one of your examples. hope that helps. i am not a real native speaker, but have regular practice in gaelic. mona |

Tapadh leat for the answer it's very appreciated and also for the details they are very usefull. Not to worry, I'm a friendly guy. The two sentences are for tattoos and it's only a warning for people who are not. And it's not far from the Scottish moto : "Nemo me impune lacessit" witch means : "No one arms me with impunity" think of the thistle. You are lucky to be able to speak Gàidhlig. I'm only a learner and I hope to be able to use it with more confidence some day. Thanks again. Mac A' Phì ![]() |
