Hello,

Most of us know there are automatic translators available on the Web. They generally give rather poor results. I would like to know if anyone has tested different MT (machine translators) to see if some are better than others ?

Or maybe you know of a site which has conducted such a test ?

In fact, machine translators don´t give us an accurate answer to our needs.

They can´t replace humans of course... but they can help us to understand a message from a language that we don´t know when we need it.

I usually don´t use machine translators, but i know one of them that is considered a reasonable one: Systrans (In my opinion, i think Systrans has a lot of work to do yet regarding some specific and tecnhical terms).

The thing is that automatic translations done by machines help to get the job started. It is up to the professional translators to make the final touchs so the texts are properly written in the target language.

That is true. I know if you use WORD on the internet it doesnt always say phrases to say correctly. If you try a certain phrase in English once translated to Spanish may not sound correct and worse could offend someone. When I worked in a corporate Oil company the advertising in Spanish was always incorrect because the ones in charge did not ask a Spanish speaking person and result was bad. Just trying to help. This site is better for me because I speak to a LIVE person not a machine.
