Lightbulb How many languages ?

In world there are something like 5000 different languages, perhaps some of them are not used anymore, or some of them just by a group of people, but it makes language be an infinite science, the perfect encrypting software, and much more. Many of languages have common source in any ways, or are isolated in the trees of languages. This article will be updated soon .

I have read that if you include ancient and modern dialects as well, there are over 20,000 languages!

Default What about artificial ones?

Does anyone know how many artificial languages (including mad ones like Klingon)? This site is quite cute: http://www.langmaker.com/ - you never know when you might need to invent a language!

The
30 Most Spoken Languages
of the World

Classification is, may be, debatable here, I didn't know I was so closer to Japanese and Korean.

List of languages by number of native speakers. by Wikipedia

The data seems to be pretty accurate here...
