pluiepoco, you said the website had disappeared, did you ask sputnick about it, since you were already in contact to translate the chinese page?
And maybe ask some other people who translated for him, before accusing...

this is blatant libel.
pluiepoco never logged in, never conducted any kind of correspondence with me. and our site was up all the time. i don't know what his problem is. the welcome page was not done by pluiepoco, it was done by my friend in singapore. no part of the chinese module was done by anyone except my friend in singapore, the administrator of the chinese module. moreover, the welcome page is a tiny tiny part of the module. the bulk of the module is the vocab database. i guess pluiepoco doesn't know that, because he never accessed the site. none of our content is machine translated. ALBIS does not use machine translation. every single term is entered by a native speaker. pluiepoco, if you wanted to do the module, you should have replied to my PM or email (can't remember which), but you never did. i can't believe you are complaining about it now. pluiepoco, if what you are saying is true, why didn't you post anything in the original thread? hmmm? you can't answer that, can you? i actually get a lot of people who say they want to do a module, but who then change their minds for some reason, or simply forget about it. but you are the first who for some reason is angry with me about that. it's ironic; i should be the one getting irritated when people don't stick by what they say. nick |

by the way, if you want to blame someone for not being able to access the ALBIS website, maybe you should blame the PRC. from our web host's site: http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?t=56229 i would stress though that, had you done ANY WORK AT ALL on the module, even a tiny bit, just ONE (1) LEVEL, or even sent me ONE (1) EMAIL, i would have waited 3 months before looking for another partner. but you never did ANYTHING. i don't think you even tried the system on a user level. nick |

as for you, you are one of the many people who - like pluiepoco - express interest in owning a module, and then don't stick by their word. why didn't you have the courtesy to tell me that you became to busy? most people actually have the decency to do that. since you expressed interest in cantonese, i was waiting for your response, and did not look for a cantonese partner. if anyone owes anyone an apology, you (and plueipoco) owe me an apology for standing me up. you attitude is flipped 180 degrees fromw where it should be, my chinoise friend, i should be the one annoyed with you, and you have no right to criticize me because of pluiepoco's insane rantings. take a quick glance at our website and it is obvious - even if your english is as bad as plueipoco's - that we are not reliant on volunteers, and that we are not a translation company who pay people, peanuts or otherwise. neither of you guys know what you are talking about, and neither of you guys have any right to criticize our project. if you are going to criticize, fine, but please make sure you know what you are talking about first. i must say i don't really blame you for being prejudiced, though. there are a lot of shady outfits on the net. which is why we have been very careful to make it clear that we don't fall under such suspicion, and which is why pluiepoco's outburst is so regrettable. nick |

Sputnick,
Sorry I didn't stick to my word, but I didn't expect your project to have completed so soon. I've always had your project in mind, in fact. I don't want to begin it until I'm sure I have enough spare time to stick to it. You never contacted me either. As for Pluiepoco's part, let's wait for him to explain. However, I'm surprised with your change of attitudes and manners in 360 degrees. You're accusing Pluiepoco, someone who believes he has helped you for nothing, of bad English, and me too. What kind of bad English have I and Pluiepoco written? On what grounds? Do you mean you write good English? Why didn't you tell him and me we write bad English before? You said you're not reliant on volunteers, but your original post said you're asking for volunteers in every language because you can't afford to pay. Is that self-contradictory or bad English? Maybe I don't understand English well either, your present thread is asking for volunteers, or paid ones? Sorry for my skeptism because I've found one person (I don't mean you) cheating for translation on this website so far. What I don't understand is, can't Pluiepoco recognise what he's written? Could it be slightly modified as someone else's work? He's never accused you of not paying. He's doing it as a volunteer, as he's said.As for disappearing of websites, why doesn't this forum disappear and then reappear? Maybe we do write bad English, we're less fluent and convincing with explanations as you. ![]() One last thing. I'm not sure if your web is hosted by PowWeb. If it is, why can't I find the phrase "hosted by PowWeb" on your website? If it is indeed a firewall and censorship problem with China govt, why can Pluiepoco access it now? Has the China govt dropped its censorship and firewalls, or has the China govt changed?
