Calm down everybody, especially Exalted, Pidr1nhu and Jewel.
This thread is about a book and the corresponding movie, not about religion, all the more when the book you are talking about is mere fiction. If you want to speak about religion, respecting everyone's beliefs, you have to do it here : http://help.berberber.com/forum-about-religions/ . Anything never insulted Islam and there is obviously much ignorance of the other one's religion on both sides. |

i couldn`t agree more with Lina.
i read the book and i saw the movie too. this book didn`t left a great impression. i`ve read it, i felt a little strange at the begining, but after all it seemed to me like a book writen to be best seller and i doubt the fact that the writer merely belives the religious ideas illustrated in the book. so, after all a nice story in the agatha cristie`s style... but not excellent... and the movie. still interesting but not that interesting! sorry guys! i wouldn`t recommend it to anyone! stop pumpin` money in to this author`s pockets! it is really what he wants us to do: discuss, get curious, buy the book and see the movie. but in the end i didn`t even gain an ilusion or another view.waste of time. so try watching and reading something else. |

Lina, I was just answering Exalted post, like you could see I didn't insult him or Islam, Exalted himself felt offended by Anything's post which had nothing against Islam and attacked the christianity, is this hate?

I never said anyone from any "side" was insulted.
I am just asking you all to calm down, for you all overreact, whereas there aren't insults or attacks about each other's religion, but only ignorance and misunderstanding. Maybe you should explain what baptism means for Christianity and maybe Exalted should explain how the Quran is considered in Islam. To talk about different religions is interesting and rewarding only if there's an attempt on both sides to explain and understand better and no barren confrontation. This could be a very interesting thread in the religion forum, indeed. But I'm repeating it, this is not the right place to do such a thing. The first question was what you thought about Da Vinci Code ( very bad book, to my mind, as far as litterature and religion are both considered ) and not which one, of Islam or Christianity, is the righter, which is a stupid and irrelevant question, I'm sure everybody will agree. |

I totally agree with magduta about his opinions and feelings concerning the book, movie etc. No art of literature can be a bestseller. Quite the contrary, they never ever become popular (let's not forget that there are always some exceptions). Da Vinci Code means the same for the art of literature as what Britney Spears means for the art of music.

And so do I with you, arugunu, for the simile between Dan Brown and Britney Spears.
As for the rest, I don't know if the correspondance is to be made systematically. Literature isn't as widely spread as it used to be in the XIXth century, in the newspapers, for instance. Great pity, indeed... But it may explain why people are progressively losing their interest in it. ![]() |
