Popular meaning of ?

Hello,
im looking for the meaning of the Kanji : "an" 安.
I'd like to have it tattoed on my back as I found the meaning to fit me : peace, serenity, but i'd like to know if there's no common meaning less "politicaly correct" which would prevent me to have it printed on me.
I wouldnt like to look like an a**hole in front of Japanese or Chinese people.

I know it is not an important question but I would really appreciate an answer.

it's absolutely no risk to use this character. The character also usually appears in Chinese and Japanese personal name too.
