Default English > Chinese for word 'rose'

Hello and thank you very much for your help. This may be an odd request!

I am a graphic designer working on a diversity-related project. I need to have one, single word (the noun "rose" -- as in the flower -- not the verb) translated into several languages. I would need to receive a document with the word in a high-quality format that I can use for graphic design purposes [such as: 1) an .eps vector image with text converted to art; 2) a large, high-resolution raster image -- .tif or .jpeg; 3) a PDF of the translation in a large font size].

Thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.

With much appreciation,

Judith Leslie

(read it from the left)

Both 玫瑰 and 薔薇 means rose in China. The former is more common today, but the later is a classic name, and may be seen in a poem.

Enjoy!

Dear Yau -

Thank you so very much! This is a great help.

I was wondering if there is any reference to color in either translation. I found that in collecting the Hebrew word for 'rose,' the first one I was given referred to a red rose. The particular rose in my poster is a yellow rose, so I thought I should double check that your translations work for a yellow rose.

With much gratitude!

Judy

Hi Judy,

The characters above refer to 'rose' only, and no color is specified. Feel free to use them in your poster!

Judy,

btw, you may post the final edition of your poster before bulk printing, in case that you worry the wrong usage.

Dear Yau -

Thank you again! And thanks for the suggestion to post the translations. I do have a listing of all the languages I'm using and can easily post that page since it would be a small file. There are 21 languages, so I'm not sure where I could post it so the most people would see it (perhaps in several forums). When I'm finished with the poster, I could post a link to our photo gallery so everyone who helped me can see the finished poster. Everyone has been great.

Thank you again for all your support!

Judy

Hi, Yau -

I re-worked the Chinese translation you kindly sent me and hoped that you might check to make sure I did not compromise the meaning when I traced it. I have revised my listing of 21 translations for 'rose' and wondered whether I could email you a PDF document for you to check your contribution or any others. If you are agreeable, please let me know where I can email it. (I'm not sure whether I can attach it through this forum message.)

Thank you very much for all the help you have given me!! You've been great!!
