I just thought it would work like in such expressions as "all the better" or things like that. I don't why, "the more sth" just seemed right...

are you both native speakers of English ? out of mere curiosity !

Seems like Iam a little late, but just in case: it is either "gets more votes" or "get the most votes" or, if you go with Tienus' suggestion, "the majority of".
