If your friend wanted you to read it I'm sure he or she gave you this link: Google Panda - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If you are American like you have written on your profile page you shouldn't have any problems in reading that short article. If there is something in there that you don't understand, although Wikipedia's articles are written so everybody should be able to understand their contents, ask your friend about it.

Actually "Wikipedia" falls way short explaining Google Panda. All it does say is that it`s a new "search result algorithm":
Quote:
The change aimed to lower the rank of "low-quality sites" or "thin sites",[2] and return higher-quality sites near the top of the search results.[1][3] CNET reported a surge in the rankings of news websites and social networking sites, and a drop in rankings for sites containing large amounts of advertising.[4]
That doesn`t explain anything at all.
Google Panda is using U.S. Patent # 6,285,999 ...sorry I don`t have 15 posts yet and cant post any URLinks, but all You have to do is add the usual prefix
google.com/patents/US6285999?printsec=description#v=onepage&q&f=false
and that was assigned to Stanford University which wrote the algorithm,...
the main equation is on page 7 of the pdf version..but as an algorithm it`s a very lengthy program and I can`t see how :
Quote:
If there is something in there that you don't understand, although Wikipedia's articles are written so everybody should be able to understand their contents
.....You understood just by reading "Wikipedia" how the Stanford algorithm filters out "low quality sites". The Stanford algorithm is using "artificial intelligence" which is well beyond the scope of "Wikipedia" . If it was that easy to figure out, then it could be as easily improved or even defeated and You could make a fortune as a web designer, because there are many web sites that were in good standing that have fallen victim to "Google Panda". The problem is that "artificial intelligence" has a different opinion what a "high quality" web site is as human intelligence would have it. For example the "A.I" in Google Panda is not intelligent enough to yield a Google search result for the latest break through in artificial intelligence: (add the Link-prefix)
gizmag.com/sysbrain-allows-satellites-to-act-autonomously/17899/
The only way it would show up with "Google Panda" if the mainstream media like CNN etc would post enough reference links to this site...or if You knew the contents of the article and put an exact phrase inside quotation marks as a search parameter

....makes me wonder if You are happy with Pauline Marois ?
I live in Western Canada and frankly speaking most of us don't care any more what Quebec does. But we do care about the $ 15.1 billion we have to shell out every year in "transfer payments" to prop up this bankrupt province and it's bankrupting policies. That`s just a polite way of saying that most of us wish the Separatists finally get their way and Quebec leaves the Federation.
I lived in Montreal from `67 to `74 and aside from the Provincial deficit not much else has changed.

Happy with pauline marois?? NO !!! But Charest the last of the Mulroney era crudites had to go.

And Québec is NOT bankrupt. In fact Québec's GDP is higher than Alberta's and we pay out far more to Ottawa then we get back. In fact because we the highest taxed province in Canada and have a far higher population than Alberta, we pay disgustingly more to Ottawa than we ever have gotten back.

However while Alberta has been busy developing and pushing it's enviromental disaster policies and pushing it's redneck Klu Klux Klan bible thumping agendas. Québec, like Germany and France, with it's unions have managed to keep the entire nation from falling into the same pit with the americans.

But unlike Albertains, the Québécois and the anglophone Québecer didn't make a fuss because we understand that despite seperatist sentiments... Québec is still part of a bigger nation and in a bigger nation all the resources get pooled together. So until Québec is an independant nation we have to tolerate the fact that the money earned here will go to the less fortunate provinces... like Saskatchewan.

Personally I would open a bottle of chapagne if Harper or any of the other Reform party members choked on a fishbone. So I'll just say that outside of Alberta which believes it's somehow attached to Texas... That despite language differences, the rest of Canada has far more in common with Québec than they do with the oil province.

Alberta can keep persuing it's "Tea party" agenda. So when the banks collapse the Albertian economy and the big oil companies turn the province into a toxic waste land like the Florida Gulph Coast... Perhaps the Québécois won't be so mean as to say « Qu'est-ce que nous vous disions ? »

ps.
If you don't like the 15 billion dollar transfer payments then perhaps you should see if Harper can ask the banks to return the 75 billion dollar bailout. Or perhaps where did all the money from the balanced Paul Martin budgets go? Which I'm sure Harper will say it was Trudeau's fault. Pierre came back from the dead and spent all the money on a bell bottom party. I'll wait for the Richard Nixon Robocall tactic to get the answer.
