Hello,
I don't speak Italian very well, but my family is Italian (they unfortunately never taught me the language). I would like to translate my Myspace page in Italian. Can someone help me please? If you want I will give credit for the translation on my site. Here's the text (please leave all the band names as they are): Born in Ottawa, Canada, Alexandre Chiappa begins his musical route in elementary school, following private lessons with guitarist Tod Hodgson. He begins playing electric bass at De La Salle public high school, notably in Denis Proulx's ensembles. Incidentally, Alexandre follows private bass lessons at this time with guitarist Marc Florent. He also participates for several years in one of Yves Laroche's bigbands. In the late '90s, Alexandre attends a Jazz Works Canada summer jazz workshop and briefly follows lessons with exceptionnal contrabassist John Geggie (2nd site). Contrabassist, gambist and schoolmate Pierre-Yves Martel sels to Alexandre one of his J.K. Lado electric basses. Alexandre hesitates to learn double bass, but changes his mind in favor of his psychology studies at University of Ottawa. During this period, Alexandre plays in many bands, notably with drummer Billy Cicalo and trombonist Jean-Stephan Proulx at the Ottawa Tulip Festival. He also plays gigs for Ottawa's Own Odd One Out, the group of his former teacher Marc Florent. In 2002, Alexandre's studies compel him to undertake an international exchange with l'Université Lumière Lyon 2, in France. Here, in Lyon, he learns of the Hot Club. Having suspended his musical activities since his arrival in France in 2002, Alexandre progressively begins to reinvest music in Lyon, after having validated a Licence and Maîtrise (with magna cum laude Latin honors) in Humanities and Human Sciences (Psychology). During his studies he meets V. Berthet-Bondet, who introduces him to Julien "Juju" Duranton and Etienne Barth. The latter are all skillful amateur musicians. Juju, in his turn, introduces Alexandre to professional musician Olivier Didone. In parallel, another classmate introduces Alexandre to apprentice guitarist Mathieu Felix. It is with the latter that he currently plays with in an amateur quartet, along with Steve Egloff of La Rue des Arches. In 2008, he joins, with saxophone player Mounir Jaouadi (L'index), trombonist Sylvain Thomas (La Matanga), trumpetist Yacha Berdah (Quartet Dopium, Jazz Pression) and drummer Hugo Crost (Quartet Dopium), one of O. Diddone's bands, The Pitiful Band, for a concert at La Salle des Fêtes of Trevoux. Cinema is on a distinguished road

I too ask for translations but I want to make sure I am using the phrases correctly and not from slang or of another part of the country. I guess what I am saying is I want to learn the proper words correctly. I understand there are several dialects spoken and I do not want to get mixed up using the wrong one in the wrong setting. Do not want to be embarassed or even worse laughed at! Yikes!
Here is a good example: Ex: I need to practice my Italian. or Ho bisognodi fare pratica con il mio Italiano. I would hope that is correct but my pals sometimes say it is not right. Then I get a bit confused and wonder if thats how they speak it where they live or whatever? See what I mean? Che bella giornata! What a lovely day! Cinema, ![]()
