Smile Children/\'s story

My grandmother from Calabria used to say the following litte story to us as children:"mushi mi, mushi mi, dove se statto, dove nana, che ta datto, pane e caso." I understand everything but the "mushi mi". Someone told me that this may come from the albanian language. My shot at translation is" mushi mi, mushi mi, where have you been, at grandmothers, what did she give you, bread and cheese." It's been 72 years and I still wonder!

This just gave me a great idea! I would like to find a children's fairy tale book written in Italian so I can read to them in Italian? I have 2 little nieces that would love for me to read to them children's stories but it woudl be much more fun in Italian.

Maybe I would have to find via Internet?

Default Fairy tale books

I don't know much about such books but I do know of one excellant book with 200 tales in english that was translated from italian which is written by an Italian author. The book is titled "Italian Folkltales" by Italo Calvino. You should be able to buy one in italian language.

I apologize for taking so long to answer you, but many thanks.

I will search for this author.

Everything by Italo Calvino is beautiful! He was one of the more important Italian writers in the 20th century, the woks on the fairy tales are a review of regional Italian tales, but he also wrote a trilogy, very famous in Italy "Il barone rampante", "il visconte dimezzato" e "il cavaliere inesistente"...I like it very much, and it's not complicated
