1001st, 1002nd, etc.
Hi,
I'm trying to work out how to say Italian ordinals above 1000. 1001st - is it "millesimo primo" or "milleunesimo" ? 2002nd - is it "duemillesimo secondo" or "duemiladuesimo" ? 5009th - is it "cinquemillesimo quinto" or "cinquemilanovesimo" ? The same questions apply up to x009, after which I suppose the pattern is simply ...millesimo<smaller ordinal> eg. 1010th - "millesimodecimo" 1011th - "millesimoundicesimo" 3024th - "tremillesimoventiquattresimo" Thanks, Swirlyman |

This is a difficult question and I try to answer.
In Italian, to part the first 10 number(that have a denomination proper),to turn a cardinal number into ordinal number taking away the last lettera and add -esimo(if singular male). If the name to which the adjective number one refers is singular feminime add -esima. If plural male add -esimi.If plural feminine add -esime. 1000-millesimo 1001-milleunesimo 1002-milleduesimo 1003-milletresimo 1004-millequattresimo 2000-duemillesimo 2001-duemilleunesimo I believe |
