There's a new mailing list-type forum for translators who use or are interested in using speech recognition:

Speak about speech recognition or about the mailing list?
Speech recognition: I started using speech recognition (Dragon Naturally Speaking 7 English) about 3 months ago after 10 years of heavy keyboard use, and it has revolutionised the way I work. It has increased my productivity by about 40%, from an average of 2500 words a day to 4000. So as you can imagine I am very enthusiastic. It paid for itself in a day and a half! It also means I have fewer wrist, shoulder and arm problems than before. The mailing list: it's a place for people to discuss speech recognition, the various packages, use in combination with typical translation packages like Trados and Deja Vu, questions from people who are interested in starting with speech recognition. For translators, so you know you are talking to peers, but not limited to specifically translation-related problems. Hope this helps, cheers, Jim |
