Hi,
I am 16 years old, from Belgium. I joined this forum because I like translating things, and this way I can exercise myself (I am going to become a translator). I speak French, English, and Dutch fluently, and I speak a little Spanish. If you want help with a translation, you can always private message me ![]() Good day to everyone ![]() Last edited by dre-day; 06-23-2008 at 08:19 PM. |

I know, I am lucky to know sveral languages
.Why I like learning languages? I guess because it opens a whole new world for you, you can talk to so many more people, understand much more, ... I don't know about chinese, isn't it really complicated, with all the symbols and everything? And isn't the structure completely different than in european languages? |

As far as I know (I don't really speak chinese, although lots of my friends have chinese roots and speak various local dialects so I have been learning a bit around them), there is no conjugation in chinese, so that huge toughness is not comparable to french italian or spanish where you have to mix the moods, tenses and find the right subject of the verbs to make your sentences sound good. Also you have history and ethymology with the chinese signs, such as in the european languages, so you can see the key in a sign even though you don't know it for sure, which suggest the meaning of it... Here are just a couple of examples of the huge differences or the comparable points there could be between chinese and french or english
![]() So yes chinese is difficult but not as much as one may think from the european cultural background ![]() |
