![]() Have u ever learnt Polish? Or been to Poland? This place seems to be great to 'heal' the wounds ![]() Hello, Katee! As a matter of fact no, I haven't been to Poland yet, neither have I learnt Polish... so maybe we can exchange some knowledge! ![]() What do you think? And... what do you think about Portuguese? Once, when I was at the university, one Polish teacher came to our university and told us that both languages are similar... I love languages, and I think you too, so let's practice! ![]() Please, ask me some doubts you have... something you want to learn... Keep in touch! Até breve! ![]() |

Olá Arehdel,
Well, I'm not sure if those languages are similar. I study PT with a native speaker, who would like to learn PL, and we are very much concentrated on similarities (to make our lives easier) ![]() There are some PT proverbs which are word by word like PL: A cavalo dado não se olha o dente - darowanemu (dado) koniowi (a cavalo) nie patrzy się (não se olha) w zęby (o dente - in PL, we say 'os dentes'). De boas intenções està o inferno cheio - dobrymi (boas) chęciami (intenções) jest (està) piekło (o inferno) wybrukowane (cheio) . And many others. I don't find Portuguese very difficult but there things which confuse me a lot, like 'por', 'para' - where to use which . The usage of definite articles is also strange for me: na minha casa = the my house - it is not natural to me especially due to the fact that in Polish, we don't have articles at all!Exchanging knowledge about languages, culture, etc. - I'm 100 % for it!! ![]() Have a great day Arehdel, Katee

![]() Katee[/quote] Hi! I'm glad we can exchange ideas... about both countries!! ![]() So, you don't have: o, a, os, as- definite articles... and um, uma, uns, umas??- the indefinite articles?? ![]() A Polónia é um país bonito. ![]() Vou paraa escola - preposition of place [i]por[i] is more used in passive voice... or to expressthe reason... |

Hello Portugal!
![]() Believe it or not but we don't have any articles. The sentence: Polónia é um país bonito would be: Polska jest ładnym krajem <- no article before 'Polska', no article before ' krajem' - nada ![]() We've got only things like: esta, este, etc. Estou nesta cidade = Jestem w TYM mieście = I'm in THIS city. Essa frase/a frase - we can say only 'essa frase' in Polish. We've got also another thing which is simpler than in PT - reflexive verbs. You've got a different ones: lavar-me/-te/-se/-nos/-vos And we have only 'się' for the whole conjugation. EU: Myję się; TU:/myjesz się; ELE/ELA myje się; NOS myjemy się... etc ![]() As for 'por' and 'para' - yeah yeah, I know the rules but there are situations in which it's 50/50 for me which one I should use. I guess it's a matter of practice ![]() Apart from things mentioned before, PL is considered to be one of the most complicated languages and I guess it's true.. Ate mais! Kasia
