The "problem" is that we don't have just different accents, but dialects:it means if somebody from the South Italy tells something the same sentence will sound totally different in a North dialect that's funny...but most of the times it has been a problem, especially in the past years.Unfortunately there's still a sort of racial sistem based on the language: as I said, North people think of the South Italy as the uncultured land, rather, they used to call South people as "terroni" that has a similar meaning to the word peasant or "rural people"but not in a nice way as u can understand... and I could tell many other naughty jokes...that's sad, isn't it?
We have even some politician that wanna divide Italy in 3 territories: North,Centre and South. They say that's the American model!!Oahwe are in Italy, why should we change everything looking to America like a model??I think every country should respect the differencies...
I like America (north-centre and south!!!) but you have your own history and reasons to be divided like that! And Italy had its own ones to be one in the old 1861

American model on a smaller scale though!! And can we call it a "model"? I don't really think so. I don't now much of Italy, but I'm sure that all the differences that are found within it could contribute to make it more unique and make it stronger rather than divide it...

yes my signature is in Sicilian
i'm french, only québécois and countrymen from the deep countryside say something like "pardou" for "perdu". gattupardu : gattopardo : ghepardo.
so i'm not a lost cat
