Hello. I stumbled upon this site yesterday while doing my best to avoid actual work. LOL. In case you can't tell, I am a very sarcastic, 25 yr. old American girl who loves people. Did I mention sarcastic?
I love languages but I cannot learn them in a traditional classroom setting so I learn by talking to others. I have failed more German, French and Spanish classes than I care to admit. I'm Irish, French and Native American (Chippewa) and Mexican by association...lol. My second family, the Herrera family, I've know almost my whole life, my sister-in-law is Mexican and my best friend is 1/2 Mexican and 1/2 Irish so, that is why I say Mexican by association. Anyway, I'm a big chatterbox, I LOVE different cultures and I thirst for knowledge so please, feel free to chat it up with me. Miranda ![]() |

LOL girl, that is pretty funny! And can you say "yes" in the very same languages? Wonder why you learned "no", any specific reason?
You can add two languages: Berber: Oho (or ohoy) Arabic: laa ![]() Welcome on board, I am sure you'll enjoy all this mixture of cultures we have around here ![]() |

When I was a kid I was stubborn and persistent. Well, I won’t lie, I still am. So, if I wanted something, I would bug my dad (Good ole Daddy) until I got my way. He just couldn't resist my big hazel eyes and pouty lower lip. He would try to say no, and I would continue to bug him and then he would say, "I guess you don't understand English, so let's try (insert language here)." After going through the entire group of "no's" he would finally give in.
I’m pretty sure my Dutch is right though. Are there different dialects like there is with Spanish? What culture speaks Berber? I am ashamed to admit I don’t know. OK so how do you pronounce oho and iaa? My guess is O-hoe and I-ahh. When I glanced quickly I thought you put ahoy and I was going to say, that’s sailor, not Berber…LOL ![]() Last edited by Miranda_RAT; 07-21-2006 at 04:45 PM. |

LOL
![]() Berber is spoken by a wide part of North Afircan population. You guessed right for "oho". As for "no" in Arabic, not putting L in capital letters did confuse you, huh? Even though "l" and "I" look different So it's "Laa", simply prunounce as written. No need to mentien that it was just transliteration in both cases ![]() |
