I'm just curious. Why is Hebrew written vertically? and if this were written vertically the beginning of the sentence would be on the top? is Aramaic also read from right to left?

But it is a fact that short vowels are written under the consonants for Hebrew and under or above for Aramaic and Arabic. Except for religious scriptures, textbooks for learning the language or dictionaries, short vowels are usually not written at all. |
