May I also ask please?
How to say in Persian "I speak a little Persian"? I have seen at least two different variants - and I can't understand what is right.... |

There might be a few ways of saying something, and there may be subtle differences, but I give you a few veriants: من یه کم فارسی حرف میزنم Man ye kam faarsi harf mizanam. This is the literal translation which can be used and is used actually, but the one in "Pimsleur's approach" is slightly a better variant. The one said in Pimsleur Persian is: I know a little Persian. (know in the sense of know-how) من یه کمی فارسی بلدم Man ye kami faarsi baladam. To say "a little", you can say "ye kam" OR "ye kami", "Ye" meaning "a or an" AND "kam" meaning "little or few". Have you heard any other variants? should you need more help, I am here.

Oh, thank you a lot for your explanations! For sure, I will need a lot of help from now, since I got interested in you native language - it means I will need milliong things to learn
. For example, right now I've got another question - in Pimsleur's lesson I've heard this expression: "Shoma Farsi mifahmin?" But my grammar says that the ending for the verb for "shoma" must be "-id", not "-in". Something is wrong with my ears, or it's about difference between "classic" and "spoken" Farsi? And another one "translation" question - if I want to say something like "you are my treasure", is it ok to say "Ganjam hasti"? |
