sheree is an unknown character at this point
![]() |
That's my name.
![]() Most of the time, it's pronounced [shə-REE], but it's derived from the French [chérie]. I'm a beginner, and at first, I guessed "シェリ", but that might get pronounced "Sherry"--and I hate that! So then, I thought, how would I go about make it obvious that it's NOT "Sherry"? Maybe like this? シェリー Or am I totally off? |

Hi,
Yep that's right, but they are all シェリー/sherii. 'Sherry', 'Cherie', 'Sheree' all sound the same in Japanese. This is because the difference in English pronunciation is with which syllable is stressed: 'Sherry' is SHE-ree, and 'Sheree' -- as you pointed out -- is she-REE. Since Japanese syllables are always spoken without stress, those names sound the same when Japanese syllables are used... |
