I started the Hiragana, it's not difficult, I had the same idea as you, I did not learn like that in parts, I started by writing all the Hiragana without memorising, just to learn the stroke order, it is important to learn it, then I used a website (Hiragana and Katakana Practice - Real Kana) to memorise them. This thread is good to practice.
Just start, let's learn together

I also have PDFs, gakusenjb gave them to me, it's him & kirua who also gave me the links :
This is the same Tae Kim's guide but not in Wikipedia as you'll see, I suggest you to read the introduction it's important : Tae Kim's Japanese guide to Japanese grammar Maybe you'll like to see the caracters bigger : Hiragana - Tae Kim's Japanese grammar guide In the previous links you'll find links for the stroke order of the writing. Stroke order - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia You can use this site, click on the kana (letter) and see the stroke order and hear the sound : Hiragana home As you'll discover, Hiragana is not the only system of writing, there is Katakana (used for non Japanese words) and the most important and difficult Kanji
