Hello, I am painting someone a landscape, and was thinking about placing some kanji in the finished product. I want it to say "Alone among many". I'm beginning to study Japanese, however, and I haven't learned these kanji yet. I found these: 独 僚 多. Is that close, or am I completely off the mark? (I also don't know the word order, kana usage...)

Hi, I'm Japanese.
"Alone among many" is "大勢の中の孤独" in Japanese. It's a little poetic. "You feel loneliness even if you're with many people" Is it close to your feeling? ![]() If you want to write the phrase with Kanji characters only, you'd better ask Chinese people. You selected right three Kanji. Of course I understand the meaning of each Kanji. 独=alone, loneliness (also "only one") 僚=friends, companion 多=many However, Kanji itself is not enough to work as Japanese language.
